an Excellent Start

For the first match of the season, Floreant 6 play against Woubrugge 5, a team that has been a difficult opponent over the last couple of years. After 3 incredible wins in the cup group stage, the lads were confident going into the match and wanted to put up a good show for the supporters that showed up in large numbers.

After just minutes Sander got the first goal of the game from a corner. Jops cross landed dead centre of the goal and from there it was an easy tap in for the Sunday League Frank Lampard. Floreant 6 did not push through after the opening goal though. There were chances for both sides but none that hit the back of the net. The goalkeeper of Woubrugge played an outstanding match, keeping them alive for most of the match. Far in the first half, Jelmer doubled the score after a brilliant assist from Jurgen beating his man on the goal line.

In the second half, Frank van der Meer made his first minute of the league after a long injury spell. Luckily he recovered quickly and was fit enough to play the full 45 minutes. Similar to the first half, chances went back and forth. Around the 65th minute, after a great through ball Nick Kooter was one on one with the goalie and netted it home calmly. Woubrugge did score one goal back because of miscommunication in the defense of Floreant 6 after a repositioning in the defense. They picked themselves up, however, and through great effort Woubrugge were not able to capitalize on the momentum.

The match ended in 3-1 to Floreant 6, an excellent start of the league. Currently, they are in 3rd place. Let's hope they can continue the winning streak next week away against Gouda 7!
